And come to a grinding hault...Supposedly the '04 was fully repaired, ready to sell and my '06 would be arriving this past Monday.
Instead...
The '06 was delivered to the original ordering dealer and has already been sold to someone else, the '04 is definitely not fixed and has even more problems. AoA gave me one lease payment back and said thats all they would do besides service the car under the terms of warranty. Obviously I cannot in good concience sell the car to anyone, no one will accept it in trade as it is not in proper operating condition, wholesale is a worthless effort as it would be considered rough condition and AoA has no intention of doing anything else at their own will. I have to say though that the A8 Advocate team is great in answering every question and responding with an answer. So now I'm at a loss, and am stubborn enough not to stand by and lose my shirt with this car. I've retained an attorney who specializes in Lemon Law cases and apparantly will be persuing that avenue. I had hoped not to come to this point and continue to be a happy A8 driver...but,
So far the car has had the following problems...
Transmission was found to be one of a few that was filled with the incorrect fluid from the factory. The fluid did not have the proper lubricating properties and was causing the clutch packs to bind on upshift. (Obviously this has greatly reduced the operating life of the transmission)
Faulty generator which was leaking coolant
Faulty Brake Control Module
Faulty Torque Support Valve
Faulty Drivers Door Controls
Faulty Telematics Box x2 (and inop again)
Sunroof won't close using the switch 90% of the time (12 repair orders for this problem and still exists)
Faulty MMI Screen
Faulty MMI Control Panel x2
Faulty Battery Regulator
Faulty Suspension Sensor
Faulty Headlight Range Motor
And now the trunk wont close (motor to pull the lid firmly shut will not engage)
Even the front cup holder insert spontaneously exploded...
And lets not forget to mention the dry and rough leather on the passenger seat (that rarely gets used), the peeling interior trim, the water logged trunk, and finally the famous message that popped up one morning...

Whining about certain lumbar support positions. Looks like a small lumbar pillow is what you need to augment anytype of seat adjust if it's that important for your lower back pain. Come on! Audi doesn't need your money, because you won;t be happy with the new "gottee" front-end just as some BMW prospects hate the rear-end of the new models and you don;t want to drive a model thats out of date. So your solution is to move one to another brand.

and you will be showered with sympathy. Atlas, I know that you wont back down and Im with you 100%. It would be invaluable to find out, in the end, what has caused all of this. Is there something in the water(coolant) in So. Fla???????

represents the A8 model change that put this big fella on the automobile map! It has been called the most beautiful car in its class and that INCLUDES the front end. So there! LOL. As far as the comfort of the seats, there have been more than a few drivers that have complained about lack of "comfort" concerning the front seats. In the end, youll make the right decision either to find a "compromising position" or move on to a different car. Good luck!! BTW, Im not crazy about the new front end either, although it wouldnt keep me from buying the car.

if AoA won't stand tall and replace the tranny in its entirety. Is ther any realistic chance that all other oustanding service issues can be resolved? Damn!!!!

The car was new to everyone at the time and unfortunately he had to suffer through a few of the known initial problems with the car. Most of these were remidied shortly after his car was purchased back. IMO it was more of an issue with his dealer rather than the car itself. Had he utilized a different service department, I believe his outcome would have been totally different.
I have noticed that the D3 is rather temperature sensitive. There are many service bulletins, addressing problems that occur only in certain temp ranges. The sunroof problem I have seems to be affected by this. Then the ambient temp is over 85 and the car has been out of the garage for a brief period of time, it's determined not to work properly.
