Default No Audi loaners, really ticked at my dealer

So my dealer (a multi-franchise high end shop in Creve Coeur, MO, if that helps you figure out who it is) has been fantastic over the last 10 or so cars of all marques I've bought from them. Til now.

They have got rid of ALL own-brand loaners and now have only Enterprise Rent-A-Car Camry's (or worse) as loaners. You have to present a drivers' license, credit card and insurance card to get one, just like a regular rental car - but the dealership pays the bill if you only keep the loaner as long as they have your car in the shop.

I leased the A8L (2005) thinking I'd get an Audi loaner when I had to bring it in for repairs. I feel I've been screwed here, yet this is the only bad experience I've ever had with this dealer. Stil, it's a big one to me.

Any suggestions? Should I ask the Audi sales manager for a demo in lieu of the sh*tbox "loaner" cars? I mean, we've steered a million dollars of business to these guys in addition to buying a few hundred grand worth of cars ourselves over the past ~10 years.

Default Why is it a big deal?

so you drive non-luxury, regular rent a car for a day or two. So what? Think of it this way. It will be a chance to appreciate your car more.

Default not a big deal IMHO.

Don't mind the chance to drive something different. Had a new Jetta as a loaner the other day. Not a bad car.

Default My BMW dealer used Enterpise sometimes

..when all the regular loaners were "out". It was a "not nice" experience and I complained to the owner of the dealership. It was explained to me that this is not a normal situation, and it is only done as a last resort. I was still furious. It was not what I expected from a premier marque of luxury cars.

If the dealer had that policy as standard, I would not have been at all happy.

One of the questions I ask a dealers with "what is your loaner policy and what vehicle can I expect to have as a loaner?" I usually get a fairly staright and honest answer.

And yes, to me this is an important issue.

Default Actually, I think Audi's lack of a clear dealer-wide rental policy...

...drives some buyers away from Audi to toward the likes of BMW, MB, and Lexus.

I think Audi should smarten up in the interest of competing in the American market.

Default That is a valid point.

The benz dealer we used to deal with would have a fleet of Volvos and C class cars they loaned out. ( they sell volvos too...)

Default its a big deal because of what it says about Audi's willingness to delight its customers

Service time is one of the few times when a customer is reminded of the Audi dealer. It's a perfect opportunity for Audi to show off how committed it is to "leading, never following" and do every little thing to make the experience as comfortable as possible for the customer. Shame on Audi for not doing this.

Default Re: No Audi loaners, really ticked at my dealer

I know the feeling even though I have always demanded a 2005 or 2006 A6 ... period. Lexus always provides a car equal to or above what you bring in and most Audi dealerships resort to this crap Enterprice US car or Camry deal. My friend, who I helped the dealership sell 2 A6's to, was only offered a Camry, after I told my service advisor that she was worth $50mm and wanted at least a new 2006 A4, even if white, but perferably an A6. They didn't have any left, so she left and had to re-schedule. She should take her Mom's Vanquish S or one of their 20+ cars. Even Beverly Hills Audi/Porsche offered her a 1995 911 coupe for sake!
