Having a string of bad luck with my 2007 S8. The latest being the "No Key Identified" message I get when trying to use the push button start. The car starts fine with the key in the ignition and the remote lock/unlock/trunk work fine, but the proximity sensors and door handle lock buttons do not. I never realized how convenient leaving my keys in my pocket was until I had to start using the key again. 1st world problems, I know.

Anyway, I have checked all of the obvious places such as battery voltage, both keyless remotes, new remote batteries and clearing codes using VCDS to no avail. I even disconnected the vehicle battery for 30 minutes to hopefully wake up the module. I am relatively positive my "kessy" is to blame. I have also included three VCDS scans to show before and after clearing codes.

I would look for "Terminal 30" that related to the components that failed - As I understand, without "Terminal 30" nothing connected to that will work. "Terminal 30" consists of Fuses or Relays. So I would start checking all the fuses and relays related to Antenna box, smart authorization, door control box, etc. Don't panic and start replacing good parts and in the process, put some bad parts in and cause more confusions.

See other thread on same subject running in parallel. That is the "advanced course" if you will. Start with basics:

1. replace batteries in your keys.

2. How many keys do you have? Have you tried each one?

3. Do not assume your main battery is okay from a simple voltage check, or the MMI display for that matter. How old is it? More than 4 or 5 years?

4. You included parts of three scans. I want to see module 61 (power mngt module) though, or others with power codes. Module 61 says malfunction, but no codes in any print out found. Please check and report.

My suspicion is yours may be something fairly simple like maybe some dead key batteries, together with a failing main car battery. Door open keyless is one of the first thing the car shuts down (via the the power mngt. module) if it runs low on current. You also have an overcharge code somewhere else BTW, which made me think a battery charger got thrown on it too, another breadcrumb of why I wonder about main battery.

Actually, my keys worked perfectly until the battery was completely dead.

Thanks for the input! I have two keys and neither work. I replaced the batteries in both and have the same issue. The vehicle battery is a little over 2 years old.

I did delete the power management module from the scan since it has the usual quiescent current codes. The over voltage was from the battery charger that I attach anytime I am working on the car.

I believe that the two of my door handle lock buttons are bad, so sometimes the car doesn't lock and "go to sleep". That's when I get quiescent current codes.

I have had the car not unlock with proximity sensors due to power management. This is different, because since it has stopped working, none of the "advanced key" features have worked.

I will investigate the Terminal 30 at the module once I remove the seat. This will let me know if it is upstream problem from the module.

Hmmm, seems like start going down path of the other thread I mentioned, though your car sees most critical modules still.

Remaining follow ups on first ideas are:
Does your push button key remote work to open and lock car, or is that gone too? Can you even set off alarm--to confirm each key is working in some fashion? Trunk function?

Unlock/lock, and trunk work fine from the remotes. Only the "advanced" features do not work, specifically the proximity door handle sensors, outside door handle lock buttons, and the push button start.

I always charge the battery using the hexagon charging post in the back. In the past, even after the power management had shut down certain modules, the push button start would always work once the car was "woken up" by unlocking using the key fob unlock button.

I have been following the other thread as well and will have to test voltage at the module once I get the seat out.

I found a couple of other kessy threads on other boards where folks have successfully replaced blown mosfets and resistors in the kessy module. I think that will be the next step versus cloning if all of the inputs to the module check out.
