when filling up at the gas station there is a little 'lip' on the gas cap door hinge designed to hold your gas cap. All this time I've been letting it dangle!!! It's the little things in life........

My favorite discoveries are listed below. Some of these have been discussed in this forum previously but I thought I'd bring them up while we're on the topic in case some missed it.
1- Double tap of the overhead lights to activate desired lighting mode for BOTH front and back, especially double tapping overhead to off to enable auto-dimming mirrors on the freeway while preserving lower accent lighting. See 1st photo.
2- Holding down the the temperature dial to sync both sides (or all four in 4-zone climate models).
3. On windshield wiper lever, using underside button and switch on end of wiper lever to enable full screen MPH readout with real time gas mileage at bottom of screen on instrument cluster display. See 2nd photo.
4. Using paddle shifters while in regular "D" drive mode (without being in Tipronic mode) to downshift when in situations requiring optimal acceleration (resets back to automatic gear selection after a few seconds of paddle inactivity).
4. Rear power side window blind operation using the driver's rear window controls (W12's and the rare A8L 4.2's with rear individual power seat option).
5. Moving rear power seats all the way forward when not in use to enhance rear window visibility (W12's and the rare A8L 4.2's with rear individual power seat option). See 3rd photo.

Please further explain number 3.
I know that the underside button is a reset button to reset the individual stats. And the end of the stick has a toggle button to switch between avg. mph, avg. mpg etc.
Please explain what you are talking about?

Unless I'm mixing buttons up, the button on the bottom of the wiper lever, when pressed and not held down, toggles the primary mode of the instrument cluster display. It will toggle between the full MPH display, the adaptive cruise control distance readout, I believe also the full screen trip display, and perhaps another mode I don't recall at the moment.
I'm not sure if what I stated for #3 requires the larger instrument cluster display present on early D3 models with Adaptive Cruise and all D3's 2007 and after?. I don't remember knowing of this when I had my 2004 D3 so maybe the larger display is required.

It definitely works that way on C6, but as ModestW12 said it might require the upgraded components/display for D3.

I uploaded photos of items 1 3 and 5 to original post above but forgot to verify how to select the MPH display mode. I'll post back this evening if someone doesn't beat me to it.
