How much did it cost labor to install the TPMS? I already payed alot to get my new Bridgestone Potenza RE970 A/s installed and road forced balanced last month and all my TPMS failed after switch from winter sets. I got the orange TPMS in the mail and was wondering how much should I be paying to get these on the rims with moving of the tire out of the way slightly to access the insertion area of the TPM, It should be straightforward with no rebalancing needed.

There is no way I would "squeeze in" a TPMS sensor after the fact.
I'd be concerned about proper bead setting afterward.
And yes, it would need to be re-balanced unless the sensors weigh far less than an ounce.

My thoughts based on a lot of years as a mechanic - but someone might have more modern [post 1990] information

I got new tires at the same time so really no add'l cost. I don't think there's anyway you can avoid re-balance, the sensors will throw the weight way off.

That's why I installed all new, I might have squeezed a little more time out of them but didn't want to deal with it one sensor at a time over the next 6 months.

For anyone considering new tires there is a measuring block in VCDS for TPMS battery life, detailed here on the forum.

While it's probably not perfectly exact it will give you an idea on their age.
In my case the immaculate service records of the PO proved out what VCDS was showing. Whew!

Personally was not too thrilled after I put new tires on last year and then realized TPMS might need to be replaced.
Hopefully will save someone the angst that I went through.

Any tire place should be able to install, no science. I just had my install for $10.00 per tire including balancing, so $50.00 total for the 5 tires. But I'm in Florida, things are a little cheaper here.

Default My TPMS Nees Replacing

I wish I could of paid for new TPMS' as the dealer where I just purchased my car put new tires on the car....the rear left gets "no connection" about 5 times so far....I'm sure it's a battery issue. Will most likely hae to suck it up and get the them installed.

I agree. So that's why I will have my dealer re-road force the tires on the machine to make sure it passes dynamically and road force wise but if it did in the first place then it should just be some ounces here or there in terms of the dynamic balance weights. I wouldn't want the beads to be seated badly too so thats why I am charged $85 dollars total for all 5 wheels.

Do you have a link to where you order the TPMS from?
