Default Parking Sensors Quit

I have an 04 D3 and the parking sensors (front and rear) have just stopped working. I get a long beep when engaging reverse/drive, but no proximity beeping after that initial long beep.I have adjusted the volume/tone via MMI to no avail. I cant find this specific topic anywhere in the forum.

A sensor has probably blown. The whole system then becomes disabled. Presumably as a safety feature. A VCDS scan will reveal which one is busted.

Also keep in mind a wire can break as they are routed between the flexible fascia and the aluminum bumper. Any pressing of the fascia can damage those wires. I had the one to my front center/right sensor break.

The Vag-com software gave me an open circuit to that sensor error.

The diagnostic interface is mandatory for that car, IMO.

Kinda ironic that smashing the wiring between the bumper and facia can cause the parking assist to stop working

Same thing happened to me with a rear sensor. Diagnostic indicated a bad sensor. After multiple replacements discovered it was actually a loose wire.
