Default <Solved> Is it possible to disable the trunk lid opener button on the driver's door?

Hello everyone,

Let's say I want to put valuables in the trunk of my 2006 A8 L while I'm away. A thief could simply break the window to get in and then they could press the button on the driver's side door to open the trunk. Is there any way to disable that button temporarily so that the only way to open the trunk is with the key or with the key FOB present?

Thanks,

-JT

In the manual, if it's like both of my Audis it should indicate the following:
Press Valet button in the glove box; lock the glove box w/mechanical key; lock both rear seat backs w/mechanical key. Unlocking button for the trunk lid in the driver door is deactivated.

There is a keyhole up under the area where the release button is; if it's like most European cars turning it to horizontal and removing the key disables the electronic lock (which makes me wonder if it disables the kidnapper preventer). I'll get my son and get back to you...

Where is the keyhole by the release button? The trunk release button is on the driver's door panel; I don't see a keyhold anywhere nearby. Also there is no valet button in the glovebox. Locking the glovebox doesn't seem to disable the trunk release button either.

OK, got it <solved>. Like Atomic said, there is a keyhole on the trunk lid right above the license plate. Putting the key in there, and turning it horizontal (a quarter turn clockwise) and then removing the key seems to have disabled the trunk unlock button that is on the driver's door panel. Issue resolved. Camping gear in trunk is now safe at the trailhead. Thanks!

Lock cylinder is on the trunk lid. Quite concealed. Above the license plate. Use key to disable button on door ans squeeze switch on trunk lid. Kidnap lever in trunk still works as it is a mechanical cable.

Above the rear license plate and to the right of the rubberised trunk release button and inbetween the license plate lights under the trim in the little niche on the very rearmost vertical panel on the exterior of the trunk lid....

There is also a keyhole under the driver;s side door handle. it's a two-handed squatting operation to operate. FYI.

The car normally comes with a book of instructions on how it works. Not to say yours did - many times the auction douches remove everything they can.

Peace out
Tom

Trunk button is disabled when car is locked, so you don't need anything to do. It's all done by Art of Engineering.

That is what I thought. I know my D2 was, and figured the D3 would be set up the same way. I've never tested it though.
