problem with mp3 cd canger
I bought the mp3 cd changer for replace my regular CD changer (its broke). Now reading the mp3 cd changer in the hidden menu, but it does not read. In source CD key, no cd only TV source.
I guess it must be done upgrade firmware, but how if cd does not work?

Put back old CD changer and upgrade software to the highest for your area (4610 North America, 5xxx for Europe...). Upgrade software is ~$20 from a dealer. Procedure is fairly simple. Battery charger would prevent power drain during it. Rest is pretty much strait forward.

Sorry. Missed that. Than you need to fix it or borrow one first. It could be just dirty laser lens.
Are you sure that CD changer is broken? When two of them are not working on the same connection it could be something else. Have you checked with VCDS?

Least expensive route is:
- find an old non-MP3 model
- update MMI firmware
- swap MP3 changer in
Keep in mind you will probably need Audi to turn off component protection for one or both "new" changers.
They need to communicate with mothership in Germany to make the car understand the device is not stolen and therefore not cripple it.
Two trips to Audi at $125 each (my dealer here in US) is going to get expensive fast, and this is the cheap way.
Ideally you can fix the old one as Misha suggested and save one CP trip.
Alternatively just take it to them and be ready for a bigger bill....
Personally I'd just turn on SiriusXM, but don't think that's available where you are.
