535xi has gone through some serious 2ft snows so far this year with no problems.
same with my 335xi.
probably the tires that are on it make a difference.
i switched to Conti TS790s for winter on the 5 and it's fine.

X Drive seems to be better with rear wheels on two sets of rollers such as what you'll find on a chassis dyno. Fortunately, the front wheels usually hit a weird road surface before the rears. Besides, on real-world road surfaces, I put my money on Quattro technology.
Although one must admit that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Would have liked them to do it with the front wheels on the rollers too, but it got me thinking about the Quattro...

that I couldn't open the doors of my car had to put the seat down in the back and crawl out the trunk with a shovel in my hands. Snow line was near my windows. Dug out a little and backed her out no problems. Turned out I also hit a sheet of ice under all that snow. Of course I can't do this in the A8 because there is no way for me to get to the trunk from the cabin. Mental note to keep the shovel in the back seat in case I need to do a sun roof exit one day.
