Dang, he charged me $30 to just look at the brakes. I can only imagine what an Audi specialist will charge to look at them!

The guy says he has to get back to me about whether he can do them. So, I guess he's looking into Vag thing. My dealer is pretty far away so I'm trying to find someone local to do them for me. Maybe a foreign car shop.....

There's nothing Difficult about doing the Rear Brakes, but a Vag-Com System will be needed to open the Brakes for Pad Replacement. If anyone tries to Force them Open using the C-Clamp method or any other method, then you'll be looking at $400+ for each Brake Motor. My advise to you as to anyone with an Audi is to get the Bentley Service Manual ($130) and VCDS ($350). I know that it may seem like a lot of Money to Spend, but you'll be surprized at how fast it will Pay for itself. For instance, if you have your own VCDS and assist your Friend in Opening the Brakes, then you will have saved $200/$300 over the Dealership's Cost and that covers half or more of what you spent. The next time you have to Run to the Dealership just to have them Plug In an Diagnose your Problems at up to $125/Visit, then you have just about paid for everything. As you can see, you now have the Same Capability to Plug In, Diagnose, Read, Locate and Repair before you have to make anymore decisions and at least Shop for Your Parts. Not To Mention all of things that you will eventually want to do that we have done to the A8, but you can't if you don't have these Items. You will always have to Pay Someone to Fix or Diagnose for you and why would you when you should have the Tools anyway? Go to Ross-Tech.com (Hex/Can/USB) and BentleyPublishers.com (A8 Repair DVD Rom) and save yourself some Mega Money! Laters,

Based on my conversations, it looks like I'm only going to need pads now. That is sweet!

He said his "machine" was out for repair so it might be a couple weeks. I guess "machine" would be a VAG-Com?

How do you go from Needing New Rotors to Not Needing New Rotors? As for the Machine, I wouldn't guess, I would ask if it's Vag Equipment for VW/Audi with Latest Software Updates to do your Year/Make/Model! Good luck and laters,
