That is the screen between the speedo and tach, I just went out and tried the settings you posted and yes there is RDS on the MMI 7" screen, always has been, this thread was started about the DIS, So if you are saying you now see RDS on the DIS screen for AM-FM-XM please post a picture of it doing so.
Not on the instrument cluster, just the word "Radio" and station number i.e.,"Radio 91.5".

I know for a fact the D4 does what Johnny's does.

Pretty sure that AMI will display song info though - maybe that was what he was seeing before ?
On my car, an '07, the AMI displays the filename of the song playing in the DIS (on the top line). The MMI display will show the various filenames in the directory and a pop-up for the current song displaying the ID3 info (Artist, Album, Song title).

I rarely listen to the radio, but I've never seen RDS displayed in the DIS, only on the MMI screen.

I see the same thing when listening to my iPod but not through FM.

Default DIS FM display

even on my daughters 2000 A8 displays radio stations RDS and my 2004 A8 doesn't ??
i remember seeing the same info on the MMI and DIS at the same time when listening to FM or XM (not AM, AM doesn't transmit RDS)
before i took it in for some service and all i see now is Presets or FM, nothing else on DIS, MMI still displays RDS.

I have had a different problem. When I turn on car in morning I just get a large red "x" in middle of whole screen in instrument cluster. This occurred regularly BUT after turn off car and restart after short drive everything was fine????
This happened for several months BUT it cured itself a few weeks ago?
Your problem may self correct later.

Default Additional info

Disclaimer: As most you know I don't have a D3 anymore.

Today I had 5 hours on the road and spent some time looking at this.

On the D4 there is nothing more than channel # [e.g. 96.9 The Kat, or 71 Sinatra] displayed in DIS for radio.
Not on HD radio.
Not on FM radio.
Not on Sirius radio.
Not even in the Entertainment tab in DIS.

It does show the track name on AMI and Jukebox.

Checked every setting everywhere and there is no way to make it happen.
While I can't say with 100% surety my/the D3 was the same, I'm 99.9% certain now.

That combined with the fact that nobody has a picture proving to the contrary I'd say it simply doesn't work that way on D3 and definitely not on D4.
If anyone can prove me wrong I'd be really interested to see the settings

ps - Had a hell of time finding a 'regular' FM station that wasn't broadcasting in HD.
Goes to show I never bother looking at FM anymore...
