This might not be practical if you frequently have rear seat passengers.
But if you drive solo or just two up front like I do most of the time, you can drop the humongous rear seat headrests down by about two inches by adjusting both rear seats all the way forward and reclining the backs back all the way as well.
The lower headrest position greatly improves the effective visibility at the sides of the rear window, making the overall rear view visibility somewhat reasonable.

I thought so too. The picture is just a bit too small for my liking. I wouldn't mind a convex mirror. I think I read that they have them on Euro models, but I'll need to research that to be sure.

Big bucks for the glass though due to the combo of the electrochromic and heated glass features.
And if you go there, don't order for a domestic UK car either--as in, right hand drive.

but with just casual looking on the used market I haven't seen a set in general in my color (black) for the post refresh years when they did in fact make them larger. Lots of mirrors are sold on ebay.de, but typically pre-refresh and often w/out the right glass (needs to be both electrochromic and heated).

I will check mine but I think both left and right mirrors might be the same raduis curve - I have not noticed any great difference.
What I do notice is how muych easier it is reversing my wife's T'reg, the mirrors on that are great whereas on the A8, they seem, to be the smallest I have ever seen on a car!

You obviously have never driven a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis. Google for a few pictures. I swear the side mirror (option to have mirriorS) was barely the size of six postage stamps.

I have to say I have never had that pleasure.
It is amazing that as recently as 1990, US car makers were still producing such dated cars. They really had not moved on from what they were making in the 60's.
If you consider what European makers were offering at the time http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Picture...3-1990-90.html
