how'd they manage that? 452lbs can't all be engine difference.

The rest is probably equipment that's standard on the W12 and optional on the S8.

Default The V10 weighs about the same as the 4.2 V8, plus it's a standard wheel base....

... the W12 A8L is a long wheel base.

The larger engine and longer wheel base account for the extra poundage on the W12.

Expect the S8's real-world 0-60 times to come in at around 4.8 seconds.

Default 4.8 may be achieved on a track, but I don't consider that "real world"

I still feel that while the BHP and torque numbers are impressive, they are not up to par with the latest offerings from MB and BMW. The S8 will be a player, but not the leader that Audi is touting.

We all love it because we know its virtues and its AWD which makes it a better bet in most road conditions, but I doubt it will drive new converts to Audi.

The MB S63 when it is launched will be the new king of the hill. Audi is getting better, but the S8 is not the quantum leap I was hoping for. It will leave Audi snapping at the heels of MB and BMW rather than leading the pack.

That said, I would still love to have one. Finally the new grill gels - I like it a lot better than the A8/L.

The SWB/LWB weight differential is just a shade over 100 pounds
