S8 Outer Grille (Fog Light Grille)

I am having a problem too, I have a 2002 S8.
The part #s that comes up when you simply supply the year and model are
4D0-853-584-K-3FZ (R)or 4D0-853-683-K-3FZ (L).
But these grilles do not fit my car!
When I supplied my VIN #, I was told the correct part # is
4D0-853-636-K-3FZ (R). The middle sequence is off.
Does anyone know if the grille style switched mid-year?
Oh, and the grilles I need cost about $100 more EACH than the other ones...go figure.
