How did the replacements hold up? I've been thinking about upgrading to aftermarket to stiffen up the rear and reduce some of that understeer
Still on road today at another 150K miles or so. The (separate) front sway bar links have been replaced a few times, which are both easy and cheap. I haven't inspected front sway main bushings where early A8's had wear--and were superseded in part #'s. But family member with it now doesn't report anything to make me suspicious. Normal D3 weak spots in upper control arms and then air shocks at higher miles remain.
Net, a good add. Never heard of aftermarket bars for D3 BTW. I had a rear aftermarket one for my 2000 C5 4.2, which eventually outright broke. Not good.
Good to know re: aftermarket bars. As it stands, my bushings are ok but as the car is at 107k miles it's about time to replace them. My RF toe adjustment and LR camber adjustment are seized and need to be replaced, so I'll be doing all the bushings as well, probably with Powerflex, but that's low on the list oif what needs to happen to the car. I'll probably end up making a master thread for this project.
After a link bolt snapped off in my OEM Sporty sway bar, I had to buy another. I used some new bushes too. Which are avail locally (I think they may be made in Aus) and work great. Just an FYI if anyone is buying a new bar just to get the bushes.
