Default Sirius Tuner Connection

Folks,

Brand new to the board. I have a 2004 A8. I am trying to hook up the Sirius tuner / receiver but can only find three of the four wires. A fourth is a wire with a loop.

I believe I am trying to find the antenna connection.

Does anyone have a PDF or instructions of how to hook this up.

Thanks

Default From a previous post of mine

I was snooping around a D3 today.....and lucky me that the Satellite radio was not installed.

Looking in the trunk I found the connectors, you just get the new module, plug the power connector in (which also includes the diagnostic wire), plug the two antenna wires in, and take the jumper off the MOST (fiber optic) connection.

Because the Satellite unit is not installed, and the MOST network is a ring, you need to put a jumper in. It takes light from the "goes in", runs it around in a circle and sends it out the "goes out".

If you look at the control module under the Nav disc unit, you can see the MOST wires plug in. The "goes in" shines a light on a photoelectric cell, the module converts it to a digital signal (actually, the light is a digital signal, it just converts it to a useful electrical signal), then it adds what it needs to the signal, the signal is then passed on (with any additional commands or responses from the unit) via a LED that blinks and lights up the "goes out".....off to the next component it goes.

If you have less than a 1" minimum bend radius, the light reflects back the cable, not down the cable.....so the signal is lost. The inside of the cable is clear and has a reflective covering all around it to reflect the light down the cable.

Thanks. So it seems the Sirius receiver I have is not compatible since it is compatible for three of the four connections (Green, brown and power connection) but does not have a connection for the fiber optic cable in the back of the unit after I disconnect the Fiber Optic jumper cable. The port to plug it in does not match. Is there a cable that converts it to fit?

I am now assuming that different receivers /tuners have different connections in the rear. Is that correct?

If so, do you know the exact part number I need for an '04 A8?

Thanks

It is a simple "plug and play". You must have the incorrect part. Good luck!

Thanks. So I apologize but it seems I have the right tuner / receiver component but I am still missing the fourth connection (plug).

When I take the fiber optic loop off, the remaining
connector does not plug into the Sirius Tuner / Receiver. So what am I missing?

Maybe I do. So when I take the loop off the fiber optic cable, the remaining plug should plug into the Sirius Receiver?

Is that correct? If so, maybe I do have the incorrect receiver....

Thanks

That is correct - I installed my XM tuner and if I recall correctly, there was the MOST cable (that's the fiberoptic cable), 2 antenna lines and maybe one other. The MOST fiber cable just plugged right in once the loop was taken off.

Thanks.

If you have that PDF I would appreciate it. I sent you an email at lgball@yahoo.com. You can email it to tomman@verizon.net
