Default spark plug gap

Hi all, did a search and could not find the answer. I'm not sure but what I have found so far is that the Gap for a 2006 A8 ,4.2, seem to be 32". Not sure if this is correct. Any input is welcome. Thanks

Default .040 ?

Not promoting these guys, but they have a pretty thorough web site: http://www.ngk.com/ngk-aut-c1411.aspx

They are not NGK (the manufacturer), but rather a distributor who snagged the url first. NGK is a primary OE supplier to Audi and commonly found new (including in my W12). Sometimes Bosch is found as the other primary alternate--not the generic kind you get at the corner parts store, but rather the OE specific part numbered ones.

Net: their listing for the single platinum (if you are using that) says .040 when you drill into the specs. In this era, plugs come pre gapped usually, but you can always check them.

Thanks for the reply, that the web site I have been using for years. The plugs I was going to use is the "NGK 6418 BKR6EIX Single Iridium Spark Plug" I have use them in the past and have had good luck with them. I also seen a post were member "mishar"
said they where good plugs. Post #2

If you read in the description on the plug the said use gap 32". When I check them all they all come in at 28". I have always consider manufacture gap to be important. The plug I removed was a "Gap less plug" That's why I was asking, and could not find what Audi had recommended for the 2006 A8. Thanks again

The iridium is a nice plug. I have always used NGK laser platinums. I will use them in my W12 when the time comes. According to NGK's website for part finding, they have a .44 plug gap and the part number is "PZFR6J-11 * #".

When I did the part finder for my 05 4.2L V8 A8, it shows a compatible spark plug being a laser platinum .32 plug gap, part number "BKR6EQUP * #"

What units are those .44 and .32 numbers?

Yep. But you missed one or two zeros. It should be 0.032" and 0.044", or 0.8 mm and 1.1 mm.
