My OnStar stayed on once and drained battery over night. Put key into start and dim lights only, key would not release from ignition switch, trunk won't release.
Only key with me so no way to get into trunk to jump the Battery.
Had to find hot fuse to trickle charge battery to get enought power to release key!!!
Audi now tells me the key can be released by removing small plug next to key and using a pen to push release button to get key out.

Thanks for that. Alwaus good to know stuff like that.

Also, to disable the shift lock with a dead battery. The owners manual photo & procedure is poor (2004 anyway) and does not reflect the proper way to do it. I suggest everyon practice the procedure once under ideal conditions as the real world conditions are always much worse.

Luckly your car car had the key release, Audi took it out middle 2005.
