When the sunroof is vent open can you close the shade cover? My wife did that and thought she broke it, but after opening it and closing it (the shade cover that is) it looks kind of like it's made to do that?
Yes. It can take up that bent looking shape in the back of sunroof when you tilt glass up for ventilation. Just remember, good (bad) way to collect leaves over time--from that tree overhead in the pic.--that can lead to drain clogging and water issues.
That's cool! It at first looked like that would break it, but then looked like it is suppose to do that!! Just another reason I love this car! Thanks for reminder on the plug drain issues. I keep the roof closed when parked!
As MP4.2+6.0 said, it supposed to do that (it's a feature). It has two powerful transverse springs on the other side. I know because I disassembled one.
If the sunroof is not tilted, the shade sits straight on the rails; if it's tilted, those springs bend it.
You may note that if you push the rotary switch upwards while the shade is closed, then the sunroof tilts while the shade bends at the same time, to take the new shape.
