My 05 A8 has XM & I just ordered the Sirius Module for my car on ebay. Does anyone know if this is just a plug & play effort to work through the MMI or do I need the Dealer to configue this? Thanks from OH...

I just put in mine. So easy, the unit justs plug in right next to the nav unit in the trunk. You have three plugs to connect and your done. Really easy, it will take you 5 minutes. Then you call Sirius. Enjoy.

Personally, I don't dig Oprah Winfrey whereas I think the world of Howard Stern. ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
FWIW, everything that Howard Stern says and does and the way he acts and behaves when he is entertaining people on the radio and on TV is all an act. Just as much an act as the following: Joe Pesci doing the part of vicious mobster Nicky Santoro, Sr. in Casino (1995) and Al Pacino doing the part of the even more vicious Tony Montana in Scarface (1983).![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
In real life, when Howard Stern is not entertaining people on the radio and on TV, he is no different that all of the responsible, hard working Audi owners here on AudiWorld who may or may not also be parents.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Sirius currently owns 80 something percent of the satellite radio market while XM currently owns 10 something percent of the satellite radio market. This has been the case since late January or early February 2006.
From mid January 2006 and prior, XM owned 70 something percent of the satellite radio market while Sirius owned 20 something percent of the satellite radio market.
You can thank Howard Stern for how the tables have turned with how much of the satellite radio market Sirius and XM currently own.
FWIW, the sales statistics above were directly from Howard Stern himself.
Also, FWIW, once you listen to satellite radio, terrestrial (i.e. AM and FM) radio, with or without high definition technology (HD technology is extraordinarily imbecilic for terrestrial radio and extraordinarily intelligent for everything else) becomes as obsolete as the record album and vinyl.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I should also mention that Howard Stern is a happy, satisfied and proud owner of a night blue pearl effect (interior color unknown at this point) 2004 Audi A8L 4.2.

You don't have to justify your decision to switch from XM to Sirius here.
Just be prepared for much more noticeable chop-offs in reception when driving under bridges, valleys between buildings and in tall treed areas. Examples are the Garden State Parkway, I-95 & I-64 in Virginia etc.
And as soon as you enter parking structures. Other than that the programming difference will be going away someday if the merger goes through as planned.
IMO, don't sell or throw away your XM box.

Well kudos to Howard on his car choice but I choose not to listen to him...I live in Northeast OH & if you want to catch a Steeler game when the Browns are playing, Sirius is the way...
