I have found the same no pause in my 2005 A8L. Its a shame. I would think this could be easily added in the MMI software.

I believe when you use the phone it pauses...I will check it out

Default A quick push down of the vol. **** pauses the CD or mutes the radio
At least that's how it works on mine.
