Is there a way to pause the cd? or only mute?

A short press on the volume button is mute in older MMI, pause in newer MMI.
My W12 originally had mute only, but when I got MMI upgraded to fix a bunch of bugs, I found I had some new features too - pause CD instead of mute, last stations list in radio etc.
My advice is to find as many bugs as you can, document them with screen shots and pester your dealer for an MMI update and see what extras you get with it.

The magic MMI update phrase that worked for me last week was...
it loses the surround sound setting overnight, which it did sometimes. The newest MMI related technical service bulletin cites this as one of two complaints that leads to them upgrading the MMI s/w to the latest rev.

That's the problem I sighted....
and I am now "updated".
Only it cost me $70 because the "pig loaner car" ( actually I should have known better ) got me stuck at a left turn lane with a fast traffic signal and big brother sent them a red light ticket (color photo with a 3 timed stamped sequence) which was presented to me when I went to pick my D3 up from the dealer.

That's not a bug I've seen on UK cars
Mine were far more widespread an varied:
1. A faulty nav DVD used to give the voice prompt "Please turn first left at the roundabout" when the pictogram and map showed third left (ie, turn right). Made nav unusable if you didn't have the map and pictogram up.
2. When setting up automatic intersection zoom and automatic map direction, the map would zoom in at intersections but would remain North-facing. Awkward when navigating unfamiliar cities.
3. In CD mode, pressing Setup, then Sound, then pressing Setup again left the soft-key LEDs and on-screen function indicators inconsistent. Only mildly annoying.
4. The telephone kit in those days only used to read the SIM phonebook entries, not the phone. My Nokia had lots of entries on the Sim that didn't show up in MMI thanks to Nokia's use of special characters in the 15th character position to indicate group membership.
5. When starting the car, if a CD with CD Text was playing when it was last shutdown, the CD track name did not appear in DIS until the CD was changed or the track was changed manually.
Plus some other really minor stuff. I wrote it all up, provided screenshots of the whole thing and printed two copies out - one for the dealer, one to send to Audi. Within three days they were booking me in to get an update.
