I think the 08 wheels look better i'm not sure why but the 07 S8 wheels to me look like a bad set of RS4 replicas. On top of that I dont like the fact that they have a center cover that may or may not be stolen or lost.
Just my 2 cents... :P

the '07 Wheels are sporty/classy. the '08 wheels are more agressive-looking which is appropriate for S8. I think the '07's are better for A8. if you get them, make sure theyre 20"....the replicas come in 19" which do not look as good.

That's my vote...
and these also became an option on the other D3's.
Same 20 x 9 as the S8 wheels, but these are polished, and on 2007 and 8, also really nicely done as two tone for darker cars. The 100% polished from 2009+ might fly well on a light car.
Unlike others, they are also forged. That and the thin spokes make these like 5 pounds lighter than other OEM 20" choices, though I haven't seen weights on the S8 wheels. True forged is very rare among Audi OEM wheels, including some folks think are but certainly don't weigh like they are forged at all.
More specifically, on the S8 ones, I think the 2007's are in many ways just a variant of the "new style" RS4's from this picture and link. But, they aren't forged/polished/etc. As a used wheel buyer, if you are price sensitve and hard nosed, I don't think those have that much following as far as used wheel demand, so you may get a better (lower) price in general. However, often harder to find older wheels as take offs unless they have been in a garage for some time. With no more S8's new, those newer style may also be fading as take offs too.
Net, whatever makes you happy is a good choice! Anything OEM Audi will fit the car and not risk looking out of place down the road.

You nailed it. The 08's are much more aggressive. And I'm not sure I want a real aggressive look.
