with those miles... and you want peace of mind.
After buying it... do all the maintenance that you are unsure of.

It's easy to check. Pop off the cover on the driver's side, and see what the belt looks like. Unless it looks brand new, with texture (not shiny) and some kind of markings, plan to replace it and everything it touches.

Setting TDC
Need advice how to proceed. I think my last mechanic did not go a good job aligning washer type thing. I was originally confused how people found the TDC. Most of the posts removed the plastic cover before setting TDC. I had to to the plastic cover back to get TDC.
Set TDC
The next pix the left cam looks fine
looks fine left cam
I believe the mechanic did not a good job when he tightened the the right cam bolt see pix it is off by a couple of mm
see his markings are off
That thing is off by a couple of mm
To install that special crankshaft holder bolt remove what looks like an oil filler plug. 8mm allen wrench needed.
That special bolt went in easily without any resistance....
image of that locking bolt took the advice of my Bally and removed the cv joint splatter guard.

Looks like your timing may be a little off?
Both cam sprockets need to be loose/freewheeling with the crank lock and cam lock tools in place. The belt then needs to be positioned and the tensioner released. Then the sprockets should be tightened up, and the cam and crank lock tools removed. When you release the cam lock, the sprockets shouldn’t move relative to each other, otherwise you need to redo it.

First time doing a timing belt change ever. It has taken me the same amount of time as Mr. Bally.
It took a lot of time but I am glad I did it myself.
I think if its your own car, you check, double check and triple check. You do other extra things as well:

I think if its your own car, you check, double check and triple check. You do other extra things as well:
- Cleaned AC condenser and radiator. (It is proven than removing mineral deposits on these parts significantly enhances the parts performance)
- Running a re-threader when I encounter some resistance to bolt installation.
- Replaced valve cover gaskets and spark plugs.
- Re-taped electrical wiring
- Put dielectric grease on every electrical connector I put back.
- First time doing aluminum welding... I had to repair a cracked support for the bumper cover.
- Installed new bulbs on headlamp
- cleaned every part before installation.
- Did some plastic welding on plastic liners, bumper cover, and enlarged screw holes.

Well, the water pump went out on my 4.2. Might as well do the timing belt. Anything else to replace?
