I agree with Mishar. The filter and magnet does not need to be cleaned in majority of cases. If I ever decide to change my transmission oil I'll do exactly what Mishar recommended.

I am puzzled by TSHong's "case" of 3 quarts low ATF. Transmission was obviously still working, what brings a question: how important is that temperature fiddling at the final level setting?
It was almost 4 qts low when I took possession of the car. It took a few seconds to go into reverse. It also had a hard 1st to 2nd shift. The PPI that I had done at Audi El Paso did not find this if you could believe it. After I got it full, it went right into reverse with no issues. Still had a hard 1st to 2nd shift but the transmission finally adapted itself and shifts like butter now.

Have 108K on my 05 D3 and have never done a trans fluid change since I've owned it with 66K on it. Which brand and type of trans fluid do we use in the D3 and how much do I need to buy? I have the Triptronic trans. Thanks

You can either just swap it with LIfeGuard 6 (which is what's in there now), or do the software update and flush it out to LifeGuard 8.

Obviously the former option is much cheaper.
