Sad end to a cool story....from whence it came.

Thanks for the update, its sad that its gone. I just picked one with 100k miles, hopefully it will last a while, since I am able to drive it only on weekends. Did you have any major repairs done?

Well, I only owned the car for less than six months and about 6,000 miles. It needed no repairs under my ownership aside from a few tire repairs and an oil change. Oh, and I did a DIY repair of a leaking tallight that allowed water to get inside it.

I received all the receipts back to day one with the car when I acquired it. I reviewed them at the time - about 1/3 of the total expense was tires and wheels. No transmission repairs. The air suspension had to be repaired; that was a big ticket item. Also, there was the grounding issue that SENS8 described, some light replacements...nothing serious. It drove perfectly at 166,000 miles.

With a complex, expensive car like the S8, you're always taking a risk when they get older. That's why I didn't replace this car with another one just like it - I wouldn't know the history of the new car.
