Tool to remove fuel pump?????
I am replacing the right (passenger) fuel pump in my 2005 A8 (4.2).
I have removed the retaining ring and I can access the pump but I am unable to get it out. I have tried turning it (both clockwise and counter-clockwise) by hand but it will not move.
Is there a special tool to remove this (like in the D2)?

Some say you can use a hammer and a screwdriver (and then a tow truck):

Thanks Scott.
That tool looks like the one to remove the locking ring. I used a hammer and screwdriver for that.
But the pump is still secured inside the tank somehow and I can't seem to free it.
Thanks for the reply

Mayhaps...
The Workshop manual procs would be instructive?

I can't see the detail of how this tool fits on the pump, but wonder if the old "bent tube" DIY tool used on the D2 fuel pumps would work. Or is this a completely different animal?
Again, this is a D2 pump which was a beast in itself.
