I have an 06 A8 with 20k miles on it and when I accelerate from a stop sometimes there is a vibration/squeek that sounds like its coming from the transmission. When I have my hand on the gear shift I can easily feel the vibration which makes me 99.9% positive its coming from the transmission.

The vibration usually occurs when switching between 3rd and 4th gear under moderate acceleration. However, I did notice that it happened when going from 2nd to 3rd today.

Any ideas? Is this something I should be concerned about?

There is a TSB concerning this... the tranny fluid "should" be replaced... my '05 A8 has the same issues but I refuse to pay for that golden fluid.

Yeah, i stumbled upon that TSB right after posting this question. Is this potentially harming the tranny or is it just an annoyance? I'm not sure if I'm still under warranty and don't want to shell out a bunch of cash if it's not really hurting anything.

I doubt it's hurting the tranny, but it is a possibility. Audi wants about 1k for fluids/labor. My car has been making that "huff" sound b/w 2nd and 3rd for the last 30k miles. RIght now she has 105k miles.

I had the same noise from my A8(2006) tranny, the dealership fixed it under CPO warranty. Changed the oil and reprogrammed the tranny. The noises did get worse over time. I had to show the Tech the problem myself. Car drives just fine now. Its been 2500 miles since the work.
