I could see this technology used for spare tires perhaps...
It didn't specify any weight saving or plus' in the article.
And now for my "damn", I just gauged/gashed my right front tire wall and gave the wheel a nice ding. It's still holding air though but looks like shyt. I've got 4 new Pirelli's in the garage, looks like it mounting them time with 4 months left on the lease. Was hoping to make my Conti's last till then.

Well...
Cover the open sidewalls with rubber to keep stones out. Seal the rubber to the rim and tread. Then, figure out a way to fill the interior voids with a gaseous mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and smog. After all that, you have tires that weigh twice as much so they must give a nice solid road feel, or is it road tweel? :-)
