What new tires to get for the A8?
#11
Just got Michelin
I had to replace my OEM PZeros because of nail in tires withing 2 months of each other.
Discount Tire gave me the MIch Pilot Sport A/S for $335. Good deal. But still didn't like paying nearly $800 when I didn't have to.
They said they couldn't patch either tire because of bubbles in sidewall and nail being too close to sidewall.

Just put Michelin Pilot Sport A/s's on for the Winter. Fantastic!
Car feels absolutely stable, very responsive and very quiet. Tires feel a little more compliant than the PZeros but that could be the difference between a summer tire operating at 10 F and the A/S with temps now up closer to 45 F

What would be new tires for the S8?
I do appreciate your input for S8 tires experiences. I am getting my S8 by late March, currently I drive the 07 A8 with 18" rims, and I have the hard time to use the bank drive through window, as carefully as I can, I still got a tiny scratch on passenger side rim! So with the 20" rims on the S8, I got the bad feelings already, I got rid off the AMG 55 simply because the jerky ride and the low rubber tires! Is there anyway for me to put more rubber on those 20" rims? Say, 265/45 or 275/45, or at least 265/40 and 275/40?

Re: What new tires to get for the A8?
2004 A8L serial 8170 I replaced my original Continental tires with Michelin Pilot sport A/s (snow in Wisconsin) I have about 10000 miles on them and they are excellent. I did have briefly a set of Michelin Pilot sport tires that were great during the summer but were awful in snow- you just couldn't stop, so I switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

cctdi:
Don't know about that tire spec question..
Contact Gary @ Tire Rack...
OR...
Christopher @ A8/S8 Owner Hot Line (866-892-2834).
They are both knowledgable about what is/what is not possible in wheel and tire specification and upgrade.
When you find out--you might share it as new thread.
Thanks.
