Default What's the latest best source for front sway bar (stabilizer bar) links?

My car's front stabilizer bar links are shot. What's the best source for them these days?

Thanks in advance,

-Josh

Hello Josh,
What are the symptoms? Pictures please? Unstable?

Thanks,

Default Symptoms are clunking over bumps...

My car's front suspension makes sort of a clunking noise over rough roads and it feels like there is a little play in it. It might be something else (worn suspension perhaps?) but the sway bar link is obviously shot (see pictures) so I'm hoping it's the culprit of the clunking.

I'd just like to find one to order that will be certain to fit.

New ones here. I wouldn't bother with used.

Default Agreed, those are worn. Also, look at...

If they are worn, I would guess your front upper control arms are even more worn, unless they have already been replaced. Probably the first suspension part to go on D3's or (many) other Audi's with the same general front suspension design. Look at the inner bushing area with a flashlight and see if it looks cracked, somewhat torn out and possibly deflected where it bolts through.

The clunk is more likely from those front control arms, though it could be either. Standard D3 front suspension wear parts regardless of motor. BTDT on both items, under CPO (as in, before 75K miles).

I got these for my 2006 A8; $30 a side, much nicer than the $220/side for just the part that Audi wanted to charge me!

Also available with the bolts already included:

(Service manual indicates you should change the bolts too).

Default Stabilizer Links

How many miles on car to have this type of wear?

I researched this previously and had been told there were a few OEM brands that would work for this link as the dealer price has risen dramatically in the past few months for this part, which I am sure is not a precision engineered component, just a rubber bushing in an aluminum link.

BTW, the post above is the exact brand I was mentioning, and the brand is what I have been told one of the OE suppliers for the part. I am going to purchase the above link now, as that is a very good price.

Default Car has 137,000 miles on it

The passenger side link, and all the other control arm components, look good.

Default Do you know the service history?

At 137K, other parts will almost certainly be worn if not previously replaced. Yes, replace the torn lower bar link, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't resolve the issue/noise.

Ture, also check the upper "control arms". They seem to go before the lower links.
