Question...

Does one need to replace the Links (Arms) and Sway Bars or is it normal to just replace the Bushings?

What would one look for that would warrant the replacment of the sway bar its self or the upper/lower arms?

Just want to know for furure referance, I am at 79K now but I am sure that at some point this will need to be done. Hopefully not for a couple of years..

Thanks for the input.

Not sure about those two years... Probably sooner you will have to replace upper arms bushings. Just them if the ball joints are good (they will be with that millage). Links come next. Lower bushings may be never.

Default Sway bar

Just supplementing Mishar's answer that covered most of your questions already.

You never replace the sway bar unless you want to change the ride of the car. The bar is just a piece of steel. You change the lower links not uncommonly--what ties them to a suspension arm on each side. You rarely change the two bushings where the bar itself bolts to the car. They hardly wear unless they get grease or oil soaked from some other issue.

Default Update: Fixed

Hello everyone,

Just to follow up on this I picked up cheap sway bar link and installed it. It was about $40 for the part and installation was simple. The clunking sound I heard from the suspension is now gone. If you have a clunking sound over rough roads check your sway bar links. It's a cheap easy fix.
