Default Wheel sensor fault!

My 2006 A8 had the anti-lock light, stability control light and electric brake warning symbol all come on. Vag Com says right front wheel sensor is not responding. I checked wheel sensor and used di-electric on contacts. Anyone know how to check for signal at sensor or should I just replace the sensor? I need to see where this line from hub plugs in somewhere on chassis? Any ideas or suggestions.

You may have a broken wire in the sensor pigtail. Disconnect it and connect an ohm meter to the two sensor leads. Look for 300 to 2000 ohms of resistance. This is from experience, the Bentley manual will have a specific reading to use. Basically if a broken wire, you will get infinite ohms. If a crushed and shorted lead, you will have zero ohms. Repair or replace. The wires are "twisted pair" to drown out UHF transmitter interference so repairs are not recommended but you can do to verify a problem.

Yes, iron filings from the.toothed wheel can get stuck to the magnet on the face of the sensor and trigger erratic wheel speed faults. Wipe the face clean.

These filings will not affect the test above.

Also, if you have an $11.00 car, buy an $11.00 sensor. Otherwise, make sure it is a Bosch sensor. This is a safety-related part and system. Buy Chinese junk air filters and trunk liners but not an ABS sensor please.

No wire kits available for the car (the car's wire looms are made to order for specific vehicle), and not for the sensor too. You have to replace just the broken part of the cable. Please do the work correctly, i've seen too many "isolation tape fixes".

You get the same wire gauge and color, and some heat shrink tube, an heat-airgun, and soldering iron with solder. See to that the fix is watertight.
