Where do I buy a spare key?

A remote key for your 2004 A8 is 130.00 retail for both kessy and non kessy types. They would have to be ordered with your vin number through an Audi dealer. Plus programming which is probably in the 120.00 range for 1-3 other keys. That's how we handle that here, if you need a 2nd or 3rd key it's still a flat 120.00 for programming so it makes more sense to get that valet key (if needed) done at that time. As far as I know there is no blank offered from Audi for this vehicle like there is for the 04 A4 where that key splits in half, and your key does not. On the 04 A4 the one half is the switchblade style key, other is the remote portion.
I'm sorry to say we can't sell cut keys unless the customer is face to face with us with paperwork showing proof of ownership. For security reasons we need to make sure we are selling the key to the owner of the car.
We can sell remotes and key blanks where available though.

Thanks for the help. I am probably going to wait out getting a spare key until my 2nd Xenon headlight goes out. Because right now my Passenger healdight is out & I've been waiting for my other one to go out before I replace bc Service alone is $200+ to get into the headlamp. It's a 2004 & with my luck i'd get the xenon replaced & the other would go out a week later.

That seems a very strange logic to me.
If a headlamp fails, you fix it, no question - it is a basic safety item which should work and you should be fined for not doing so.
The only alternative is to never drive at night or dusk and never when it is anything other than good clear visibility - and that is not really a realistic choice - IMHO.

Most of the time the failure mode is that the light looks pink when directly viewed and yellow instead of bluish-white from the driver's seat. Eventually they go out completely but that can take several months depending on usage and duty cycle.
