Default Wiper Blade Issues

Recently purchased '06 A8 and need to replace blades that actually work, wipe clean, no squeak etc.
Is standard OEM best way to go?
Any advice welcome.

I've tried them all, and none work as good as OEM, while more expensive, they work and last longer too. And they may be covered under warranty.

Default Easy to me--OEM

Unfortunately no other real choice that I think makes sense: the shape of the attachment point between the blade and arm is basically proprietary. If you can get something else to fit, it's probably not going to look clean at that attachment point.

New, lower price for OEM blades at the dealer a couple of months ago. About 40% cheaper than before. Audi has heard our cries for lower prices!

I had the opportunity to use the windshield wipers today...boy they really do suck. Maybe I need new blades, but the driver's side blade fails to clean about a 4 inch wide spot on the windshield.

Does this car have rain/vehicle speed sensors? I couldn't seem to find a setting that would automatically kick the blades on once the rain started falling.

My '04 does not have the rain sensor (yet one was an option on 2001 VW Beetles) but your '06 should include it standard. The 1st position, or detent of the wiper switch stalk should be rain sensor assisted intermittent. My manual intermittent system has a multi-position switch on the stalk which I believe is on your vehicle and used to adjust rain sensitivity.

I have the rain sensor on my '04. It is active 1 notch up from off.

I don't think the slider which adjusts the intermittent timing on non-sensor cars has any effect at all. I don't notice any difference in sensitivity at any position. Do cars newer than '04 still have that slider?

There's a slider?
