Default Won't recognize AMI unit???

Is it possible that the car will not recognize the AMI unit at all or do I not have something connected properly. I followed all of the arrows on the fiber optic cables so that should be correct. When I plug the Ipod in it says Audi on the Ipod itself but nothing in any of the settings shows the AMI. Do I need to see a dealer???

Your software on your MMI is not at the minimum level. You need to take the vehicle to the dealership and have them perform the software update. That runs approx 200 dollars.

No need to have the dealer do it - you can do it yourself with the correct MMI CD(s) - someone on the A6 forum knows the procedure. And the CD can be had for $5 from what I read ... It works through the CD Changer ...

It's CPO but I installed the AMI. Don't think they will do anything for free at this point.

Am i missing something silly??? Where in his post does the OP mention what level his MMI is at?

For further reference, what age / MMI level i the car at?

You need to have VagCom (or VAS)

If you are installing this as a second device then pin 5 (green) must be connected to Pin 4 (ground) This will select it as Media Player 2

If you are replacing the CD changer then leave Pin 5 unconnected and it will be selected as Media Player 1

I don't recommend replacing the CD changer as it is used for MMI software updates!

Using Vag Com (or VAS 5051 / 52) You need to tell the CAN Gateway (module 19) that Media Player 2 is installed

Regardless of what software revision you upgrade your MMI software to, unless you recode the Gateway, it will NEVER appear in the MMI menu

regards

Dale
