Xenon HID (D2S)
Hello, everyone!
I’m looking for the good D2S bulbs for the reasonable price.
So far found the following:
Heliolite Headlight Bulb (2007 Audi A8 Quattro Heliolite Headlight Bulb in Canada - AutoPartsWAY.ca) 74.28 CAD
Osram/Sylvania Headlight Bulb (2007 Audi A8 Quattro Osram/Sylvania Headlight Bulb in Canada - AutoPartsWAY.ca) 145.53 CAD
And Wagner Lighting Low Beam Headlight Bulb (2007 Audi A8 Quattro Wagner Lighting Headlight Bulb in Canada - AutoPartsWAY.ca) 231.16 CAD
Heliolite is made in Korea. Has very nice price!
Sylvania has good reputation, but 2 times more expensive. And I have no idea where it is made.
And finally Wagner Lighting – I’m not sure why it is so expansive
What would you buy and why?
Thanks a lot!
With best regards,
Victor.

Sylvania/Osram. The Asian no-name bulbs last less than half the time of these. They are kind of difficult to replace. Why have double the labor time/cost?
As mentioned in numerous threads here that you should search out and read; you get what you pay for.
Also read the sticky at the top of the D3 thread. It also mentions this and that a search would have given you the answers you seek.

Also, had you searched, you would have found a thread about how to spot counterfeits of these lamps. There are lots of fake Osrams for low prices. Buy from a reputable source so if yo happen to get a fake, you would get your money back or the proper part. Usually this is never an issue with a reputable seller. Don't waste time or money with a fly by night ebayer or Amazon reseller with a questionable name or history.

Thanks! Mister Bally!
In general I agree with all those statements. I just do not agree with direct link between price and quality. In most cases that is true, in some it is not.
In fact, if I would buy Sylvanya from Audi - it is 290 CAD for each.
This web site gives 145 CAD.
But, following your logic, you didn't suggest the most expancive one you suggested the Sylvanya
Anyway, Thanks a lot!
Also, I never replaced any HID D2S bulbs. But looking at the instructions, I think it should be reasonable. Not too over complicated at all. So, still researching on it... trying to find the best "investment" of my money
Thanks!
Victor.

Those prices are all insane!
You can buy a pair of OEM osram D2S bulbs for 70€ from ebay including delivery to europe. Probably won't bee too much pricer for US/Canada delivery, as you don't have to pay any toll on them, if i know right?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-OSRAM-D2S-XENARC-66240-LAMPADINE-LAMPADE-4300K-BMW-AUDI-MERCEDES-OPEL-VW-/281206194616?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_101&hash=item41793201b8
ANd those are OEM equivalent made in Germany, not some aftermarket crap like the Wagner or the chinese one!
I put those bulbs in my friend's BMW E61 2006, worked well!
And i had my friend's 4,0TDI 2005 headlights apart at 195.000km/10years, but we didn't replace the bulbs, because they weren't worn, because the car had been in germany and hadn't had the lights turned on automatically.

That's a good ~66 USD price for the commodity 4300K Xenarc, as opposed to the ~85 USD 5000/5500K Cool Blue Intense, or the ~100 USD 4300K Night Breaker.
The latter two supposedly put out more and better focused light.
