Default XM install cant find plug to change in passanger footwell

I am installing a XM module in my 2004 Audi A8 and I have everything connected in the trunk but I read that you have to move a plug over that is suppose to be in the passenger footwell. I have all of the trim off and cant find. Anyone know where this plug is so that the MMI reads the new module?

When I first got my 04 in 2007, I got the XM module (self)installed. I took it to the dealer(under CPO) and told them my XM stopped working. They replaced roof antenna and rerouted wires for everything that goes to it. It still works from that day. I had a error(forgot what it said) that came up when trying to access the XM radio, left it up to Audi to fix it.

Dont know what really had to be done to get it working and I wish you the best.

I have not heard of a plug to be moved. If the XM module is connected correctly, the MMI should see it immediately. The connections are: two antennas, one power supply, and two MOST (fibre optic). Essentially it is plug and play.

Default Fiber Ring

Hello Ghost, the XM unit goes in the driver side quarter in the trunk, what you need to remove is pictured below, pull it out and save the ring, now insert fiber optic plug into XM unit along with power and two antenna wires and your done, either mmi should see it and install or you reset mmi by pushing buttons.
If you did all these connections there are no more to do, only the ones in the trunk.

Thats what I did. I pulled the fiber optic loop ring out and plug up the XM module. I got a antenna error right after. Being at the time under warranty, I told the dealer it stopped working and they got everything working again

This forum is so great!! I did figure it out. My "friend" had given me instructions to an Audi A6 not an A8. For people trying to do this all you have to do is plug in the two connections that are right there (mine were showing after I removed the panel on the drivers side of the trunk but I have read some people have to dig to find them) and then unclip the fiber optic loop (don't be stupid like me and do this at night with no lighting..you can see how to take out the loop very easily during the day) plug the resulting wire into the far left of the XM module and your all hooked up. Now when your MMI recognizes it you will see channel 000 and 001. Highlight 000 push down on the MMI **** and will see your radio ID which you will need to sign up. If your only interested in music say you saw the 6 month for $25 dollars deal and you will get most stations except for Howard Stern and a few others. They kept trying to talk me out of it so be careful when your ordering. Hope this helps someone. Oh also I got my XM module from oemcaraudio on Ebay for around $135.00. They sent me out the wrong item at first but they were so great that they did a UPS 3-day shipment so that I got it on time. I am in no way affiliated with them but it was some of the best customer service I have ever had. Good luck!
