Default 2012 a8l 3.0TDI

Hey. Loving this car but I want to get a tune. The standard is around 310bhp after tune. How far can you take it?
My son loved mine and took a test drive in a 2017 model but it wasn't as nice as mine lol. He ended up with a 430I BMW. Dad needs to be faster in his better car.
Race chips seem to be about the same as a remap...any input?

I did stage 2 on my father-in-law’s TDI recently. I’m waiting for the time to do the write-up but the short story is it’s very easy to get basically 500lb-ft, effortless power from idle and 50mpg barrier can be broken easily. Impressive.

I have been running Malone Stage 2 tune on my car for over 3 years. Highly recommend it, it really wakes up the car. Malone is nice because you can order the tune online and load it yourself.
  • Buy the loader and tune
  • Connect loader to your car via ODBII and download a copy of your stock tune
  • Connect the loader to your laptop and email the stock tune to Malone
  • They create the tune and send it back via email
  • Connect the loader to your laptop, transfer the new tune to the loader
  • Connect the loader to your car and upload the new tune
Big jump in power under 90mph, really pulls strong.

The 3.0TDI in our cars can be taken a lot further but next steps are big bucks and only limitation is your bank account. Bigger turbos, special exhaust, remove DPF, add water meth. Then if that is not enough build the motor, go dual or compound turbo etc. Diesels can make huge power but it costs and you turn the car into something other than the wonderful luxury road car you bought. I think just the Stage 2 tune is just the ticket, no muss no fuss, just a big jump in power for not very much.

Darkside Performance Diesel recently built and A5 with same TDI engine and got 507bhp 650ftlb monster so that is where you can go if you have very deep pockets and of course don't have to worry about passing emissions standards.
