[QUOTE=jetinder;24282051]soo.... makes sense to use something that's already "there", either a 4.0 twin turbo tuned to S6/7 levels or a plunge into the dark with a new engine.

hmmm"

Hmmmm, indeed! ;^)

Derf, Jet's post indicated his dealer "just had a new demonstrator in this week"---could that new demonstrator be a MY2013? (I'm assuming Jet is in the U.S.)

He went on to say in the same post--"I guess they are still tweaking the MY2012." This statement indicated to me that his dealer's "new" demonstrator is a late MY2012.

I don't disagree with you that the new top view camera is coming in 2013 (std. on the S8 and optional on A8 and A8L) but Audi's been known to make late model year changes without notification. It's not inconceivable that the top view camera feature has made its way (unannounced) onto some late MY2012 production cars.

Hope Jet reads this and can comment further. Either way, I'll know if my vehicle has it within a week.

It's definitely a MY2012 car (and I'm in the UK)

The specs for 2013 haven't been released to the dealer network. I've been in close touch with an Audi chap who is pretty important in Audi UK and he wouldn't give me a date for the release of the 2013 specification (he wouldn't tell me anything he wasn't allowed to!).

My actual dealer said that A8's now come with either a reversing camera or the top-view camera, the "no camera" standard spec has changed.

So, unless they have a different setup for US cars, everyone should get the revisions to the car going forward.

I'm waiting for the MY2014 before ordering another one :-)

2013 specs for the U.S. have been released to dealers, and they've been asked to make color selections for their initial stock allocations. If 2012s now enroute to the U.S. have the top view cameras, that would be a nice bonus, but I'm a glass half-empty guy, so I'm doubtful until shown otherwise ;-)

Jet--Thanks for your quick reply.

Derf--Now that I know Jet saw a late MY2012 vehicle but it's in the UK, I'm with you on the "glass half-empty" approach for seeing the top-view camera on my car next week. Had Jet's dealer's car been here in the U.S., I'd go with the "glass half-full".

Let us know either way. You just never really know until you know ;-)

Given that both naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 (in RS5 and RS4 tune) and turbo charged 4.0L V8 make 400+ HP, what is the advantage of going with the more complicated turbo motor?

Exactly! And soon enough, I will know! My car should arrive late this week. Will let this thread know.

well, they've added the "Audi parking system advanced with corner-view camera" (option KA4 if your dealer can check on your A8 build documentation) to the A6 and A7 brochures over here yesterday, the A8 brochure is still "January 2012".

Hi Jet---over here in the U.S., the Audi Parking System Advanced is a standard feature on the A8L so, if Audi decided to upgrade my car's system to the "corner-view camera", it's not likely to show up on any paperwork but I'll ask. I just found out my delivery date's been pushed out by a week but it still an estimate---it may still show up later this week.
