Default 2018 D4 A8 and S8 -- Order Guide

I am making this its own thread to gather up MY 2018 information. They remain a D4 for MY 2018.

Here is a link to the complete Audi MY2018 Order Guide on another board. I don't think it has been posted on this board so far. Unfortunately it is just a little too big to attach as a file to AW, so I am linking it from a post on AZ: 2018 Audi Order Guide If someone has better Adobe software, maybe they can extract the D4 pages and provide in a reply?

2018 Model Guide shows D4 A8 continuing to be available as a 3.0T and 4.0T. No mention of D4 W12, and may be stopping production pending D5. D4 S8+ continues to be listed for MY2018. See pp. 51-54. If you want drool/dream, the Audi Exclusive Guide for custom builds and paints starts on p. 86, and the Audi pages (including even 3.0T) for D4 special ordering are on pp. 94-96.

Expect this is a short run compared to prior years if it follows Audi norm. At some point around Europe D5 intro, it gets transitioned to what would be MY 2019 D5's here.

Thanks for posting. What does the red type mean - is this the new stuff vs. MY17?

I think red type is basically the old conventional use of calling attention to it--hey sales manager, pay attention here, certain configurations are limited or only available in certain option combinations is when you find it most commonly.

I didn't see any call out of changes vs. previous model year as some manufacturers do in their order guide. Do you know what, if any changes, there will be for the S8+? Thx.

That is in something Audi calls the Product Information Book (PIB). Basically their train the sales force annual cheat sheet to study up on what's new. Short version is in their typical annual press release. Here is the 2018 one...prepare to yawn while wading through the endless spin superlatives...: https://media.audiusa.com/en-us/releases/166

The 2018 PIB is not out yet AFAIK, but here is link to 2017: https://newspress-audiusamedia.s3.am...%2016.pdf2017:

My fearless forecast is basically no meaningful change for MY2018. It is in twilight of final run. Typical Audi with these is just change model year, run off three or four months worth and then shut down line for the next version (D5). Honestly on D3 at end of run in early MY2010 was basically scrape through the parts bin for what they had extra of and build them that way. Or the other common thing they do is simply bundle a few things or offer them for "free" via credit. That kind of stuff you will find in order guide. Order guide tweak for S8+ was actually how it first showed up in late 2016, along with things like sport exhaust coming and going that is currently embedded in dynamic package.

What I think they will not do are any last hurrahs like another chip power tweak (or rather mostly just upping the quoted spec to reality) or pulling in the slightly revised MMMI from the C7 (aka "7.5") that layered on CarPlay/Auto and sort of allows downloading of map updates apparently for a few years w/ out charge. Those would be the most obvious things available/possible. MMI could definitely be modestly revised like C7, but they have pretty much said it isn't going to happen. Makes sense since they needed to extend C7 life a little more, and D body is the next up on revision list anyway IIRC. They also sometimes push option packages down into the lower line A8's that may have earlier been available only with 4.0T or S8 or W12. This year's opening up of the Vermont Brown Exclusive interior on A8's that used to be S8 only is an example of that.
