You have been hooked. Welcome! If you watch Rick and Morty, then you're at Jerryboree... the Jerry Day Care. Look around.... there's lots of us!

The angst begins when you ask yourself: what other car would I get? It's a very, very small group. And they are all pricey. The good news here is you now can cross off your list the car's most expensive "potential" worry.

The dealer experience can make or break you. I have two dealers within 40 minutes... I drive by one and flip them off as I head to the good one. It's particularly satisfying when the weather is nice and the sunroof is open.

My 2013 A8L 4.0T just blew at least one turbo. 80,800 miles. Approx $12k estimate. No longer on any warranty. I see Silly Rabbit seems to be a pretty good option. I’m in central Florida. Anyone have a mechanic or shop they’d recommend?

Default ‘13 A8L 4.0T 80,800 miles. Turbos blew just days ago

Audi Lakeland Florida called. Huge estimate. I balked. They said Audi may chip in. Out of all warranties and they chipped in big. Much more than I’d expected. Thanks Audi and Audi Lakeland!!

I paid $3850 of $12,000. AoA and Audi Lakeland covered the rest. This car is the best I’ve ever owned and I’d like to find a ‘16 or ‘17 S8+ as I test drove one and am still stunned at how amazing it is.

In the Boston area, there are many independents that will replace the screen and checkvalve for around $2K.
It's a good preventative procedure and takes a couple days to do.

I have a 2014 A8 4.0 with NO mods and my turbos failed at 69k miles. The dealership initially quoted me 8k for both turbos, but later recanted. Also, they said that the left turbo was the only one that was bad, but, when they repaired it and took it for a test drive, the other turbo failed. So now my cost goes from 8k to 16k to have both turbos replaced. How is this possible? I only drove this car about 3 times a month or whenever I was going out of town. I called myself "babying" this car, but to no avail the inevitable still happened. After reading the posts on this thread, I decided to contact AOA.about the extended warranty of 70k that I saw on another post. Well, they immediately told me that it's not true. They were very polite, but only wanted to help me with 10 to 20 percent of the cost. After going back and forth with the dealer and AOA, AOA pressured the dealer into giving me 1 turbo for free and splitting the cost on the other....which was still 4k. As others thought, I would think that Audi would stand behind their flagship product and do a recall because 69k is too early for turbos to fail. I had all the services done and only took it to the dealership. Oh, my car failed while coming from Chicago on my way to Atlanta halfway through the trip outside Nashville. While on I24, I notice a different sound coming from the engine and also the power wasn't fully there. So, I pulled over, then the car went dead immediately. After many tries to start it, it finally started but quickly went dead. This is my first and last Audi that I will own.

That really sucks... the 70k extended warranty you are referring to is only in effect in CARB states. The vehicle has to have been sold in a CARB state and currently reside in a CARB state for that warranty to be in effect. I do not see that Illinois is a CARB state.

My dealer has repeatedly told me to not let the car sit. The Porsche dealer who's trying to sell me a 718 Boxster told me the same thing. High-performance purebreds need to be run.

I may be wrong but apparently if the car was originally sold in a CARB state the 7 years extended warranty still applies regardless where is the car currently, my service adviser confirmed that the last time I was there....

Thanks. My turbos failed without any notice. I will check to see if GA is a CARB state. Don't get me wrong because I am thankful that AOA and Marietta Audi took care of 3/4 the cost. Also, I will start driving my Audi more and harder....lol. This forum was extremely helpful.
