There is a similar thread over on another forum but I wanted some insight here as to what is going on with folks who have the 4.0TT motors and if they are seeing turbo failure(s) due to the turbo oil inlet screen disaster - essentially oil starvation.
(Text below is taken from the other forum).
I wanted to create a more basic poll to find out how many owners of the 4.0TT have had to replace their turbos yet. It would be good to get a better grasp on just how many owners have had this issue or not. I've included model years of 13' - 17', marked with a "Yes" (blown turbos) or "No" (still original). Then below please post your model and year if not visible and appox what mileage they blew or what mileage you are currently at on the stockers still.
PLEASE POST YOUR MILEAGE! - It can be very helpful in knowing how long / short the lifespan has been on these turbos. Any other info you want to share as well that could be helpful. (Driving style, climate, tracking the car, oil change info, etc.)
is the car out of the 8yr (80K) E1E FEW (federal emissions warranty) period?
First I've heard of the FEW. What is it ? Car still has under 75,000
The trubos were already replaced at a cost of $10,000 by an Audi Dealer . Despite several letters to AOA they brushed me off.
So, second time before 75,000 miles, I guess that is a first, at least on this forum
No, only blew once at the 73,839 mark. The 75,000 just refers to the present mileage. I have heard there are class actions against Audi for other design flaws. Has there been one for the turbo issue?

I would bring it in to a dealer, tell them it has a CEL and you cannot get the car inspected and want it checked out under the E1E FEW (federal emissions warranty). Play dumb. The explanation is somewhere buried in this thread, but I am sure someone will post up on how to help.

No law suit on this one. But Audi has been helping customers who are under the 8yr/80k warranty for the most part, as long as the car has good service history and the ECU has not been modified with aftermarket software.
The A8 was purchased new less than 8yrs ago and has less than 80K. I bought it from a FL Audi dealer 3yrs ago. AOA had plenty of opportunities to use this "warranty" in our back and forth but too much to expect they would voluntarily do so. Always used Audi service as did previous owner. AO A knew all that . FL does not have a state inspection program
