.
My chat with them, today:
.
Hello; I'd like some information about the 4.0T turbo warranty extension.
.
"The Warranty is applicable for 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first from the in-service date."
Will there be reimbursement for past non-dealer repairs? Can the turbos be inspected free of charge, for warranty related repairs, at a dealer before the end of the term?
.
"We can always review. However, it is likely reimbursement will not be extended if the repair was performed outside of Audi network. We will need invoice showing payment and part numbers. As for being inspected, that is the dealer discretion as the dealer may charge a diagnosis fee."
.
I've had the car about 17 months. Should the dealer provide the service records to me, without issue?
.
"The dealer should not have any issues either sending records or advising over the phone any repairs made."
.
.
They followed up with an email:
.

"What is Covered?
- The warranty extension will be subject to the terms and conditions of the original applicable New Vehicle Limited Warranty (other than the extended time/mileage period) and will include the turbo and any parts and labor necessary to effectuate a repair.
- It will apply to all vehicles irrespective of whether the vehicle has been repaired on or before the effective date.
- Damage resulting from outside influences, such as but not limited to, abuse, alteration or modification, a collision or crash, vandalism and/or other impact is excluded and not covered under the extended warranty.
- Repair or replacement under this extended warranty must be performed by an authorized Audi dealer.
- For applicable vehicles, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty will be extended to cover repair or replacement (by an authorized Audi dealer) of a faulty turbo during a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s original in-service date.
- The vehicle’s original in-service date is defined as the date the vehicle was delivered to either the original purchaser or the original lessee; or if the vehicle was first placed in service as a “demonstrator” or “company” car, on the date such vehicle was first placed in service.

Same here.
it’s significant that the warranty is limited to certain vehicles, with a cut off during 2017. Odds are, the cut off VIN will coincide with the VIN whereupon the upgraded oil screens were installed during production. That would mean that my 2018 model is not covered by the warranty, but on the other hand, I should be less likely to be stranded on the side of the road. In this day and age, I’ll take that trade off.
also, if the VIN warranty cutoff coincides with the new screen, I interpret that as a formal admission by Audi that the old oil screen was inadequate for its intended purpose, and if there is still an ongoing NTHB safety investigation into this matter, it’s not out of the question that a recall for the purpose of installing a new (safer) oil screen could still occur. If there is, indeed, a recall for oil screen replacement, there’s a good chance that owners who previously attended to an upgrade would be reimbursed, so hold on to any receipts.

I can corroborate! Received a letter from AUDI NA today extending the warranty to 10yrs/120k and it also had a form for reimbursement of out of pocket costs for repairs.

Both held up to the same light source.
Finally got it done. Wanted the outage to be scheduled versus surprise.
2013 with 87K miles.
Turbos still fine, screen was very clogged. Got the check valve changed too
