Good for you, I did the same a couple of months ago. Now that Audi is providing an extended warranty on the turbos, I feel a little disappointed that I spent ~$3,000 on having the screen replaced proactively. Oh well, since the screen change I have made several trips (around 300 miles each way) and didn't have to worry about a surprise failure.

the issue is the oil starvation over the 10s of thousands of miles before screen replacement can severely shorten the lifespan of "good turbos" even after an inspection checks out. if anyone has the ability to get the screens changed I would highly suggest not putting that off...

Turbos still fine, screen was very clogged. Got the check valve changed too
Glad you got it done. Maybe it's the oil screen, but Audi corporate would never come clean as to whether when they replaced my turbos at 53k on my 2013 A8 whether they updated any parts in case OEM parts had a design flaw. Dealer paid 9k, I paid 5k for turbo replacement. I was well outta warranty, but I fought hard, and my car was in excellent condition. I think it's more age of the overall parts than mileage, necessarily that contributes more to possible failure.
I kept my A8 for a year after turbo replacement but traded it in for a 2013 S5 manual trans w/ only 19k mi on the clock. A8 needed 5k for new front suspension, new brakes, and new battery. Plus, the windshield leaked in a car wash or hard rain. All that plus never feeling too confident turbos were replaced with UPGRADED or resigned so a

s not to fail again led me to se I.
Two days later, I had sellers remorse and tried to buy to he A8 back!! But, it was gone.
Anyway, here's a few pics of the S5. V6 supercharged (still air induction, but not turbos). S5 seems to have a bit better reliability factor than the A8 line. Been good so far for 6 months and about 3k more mi.
Good luck with the replaced turbos on the A8. 4.0TT still a sweet engine and A8 a nice ride. Just super expensive to own or lease German luxury is bottom line. Takes patience too. Best, Tom

Forget it. A8's gone. Chalk it up to a learning experience. I was lucky enough not to have to pay the full $12,700 repair bill in the first place. My dealer had clout with HQ to fight for me for Audi to pay majority of it.

I figured since you fought so hard to get a discount in the first place, that you might go after an easy $5K. Hell, have your kid do it if it is too much trouble

Default Audi A8 (2013-2017) Turbo Warranty Extension

FYI: Audi of America extended the warranty coverage for Audi A8 (2013-2017) Turbochargers to 120,000 miles or 10 years. I attached the letter from Audi I received this month, Feb. 2022.

Maybe read back a few posts, for more details. We've been discussing this for a week.
