As do I, thank you.
Knew about the key, thought it was for the glovebox, and knew nothing about the slot you described. I'll be damned... well, even tho that's likely, it's irrelevant.
Thanks again.

Well, perhaps it's 'fob' to you, but yes the KEY in the little slot, you know, to the right of the steering wheel - it's in all the manuals - press (turn in MB, etc.)
to electronics mode & follow as above. I assumed this was common knowledge for years now on this site - I stand corrected.

There is a symbol on the dash where it used to be - you touch the fob to it periodically to sync it.
To go to accessory mode we just don't depress the brake while pushing the start button.
My theory on that is there are too many things to go wrong with the old design requiring R&R of the dash to fix.
Or... knowing Audi.... the entire dash has to be ordered as an assembly to repair it

Sorry, I thought he had an '11. Regardless, the same procedure to reset when it starts to feel a little sluggish - I do this every few months if my drives awhile - it's a small, yet perceptible change.

What is your Audi Drive Select setting on? Try putting it in individual mode with the engine/transmission on the dynamic setting. This will raise the shift points and make the gas pedal more sensitive.

It could be simply that the torque converter lockup is not releasing correctly on your transmission, thus the desire to replace. They may have opted to replace the control module first, but its their call I suppose. =)

Ordinarily I would let this thread go off into the void with the rest of them, but your post, incredulously, doesn't sound flippant. Just to put this to rest - are you truly inside a 2011 A8 which is missing an in-dash key/fob slot located just left of the cd player and below the driver's vent dial? If so, you have the equivalent of a rare upside down printed stamp and should proceed immediately to Sotheby's!

Then I need to go to Sotheby's! By all measures (VIN, title, etc.) I have a 2011 with the slot. It was one of the first D4s here and obviously there was a mid model year design change, and one I never heard about. It wouldn't have mattered in my purchase decision, but I now wonder what else was modified within that first year?!

Are you stating that you have a key hole as in the blade of the key slides into, OR do you have a key fob slot that the whole key fob gets inserted into ?
