Default ACC Brake Guard unavailable

I know this is a common problem but I can't seem to find anyone that has the same sequence of error codes as me. I don't yet have my VCDS (still waiting on it) so I ordered an OBDEleven and scanned with that. I cleared the codes and these all came right back. The car is new to me. I've checked connections around the mirror camera but haven't figured out how to get to the module under the passenger seat. Has anyone seen these codes before? Do you have a better idea where to start or what I can do with the OBDEleven until my VCDS gets here?

Honestly, looked at it for 15 seconds, and done. Pages of stuff to sort. Please sort and edit it down to the codes (wheat), not the 98% that is irrelevant chafe. See #8 of the (still lthe) only sticky post on D3 board some of us developed years ago now: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...-read-2877219/

Give us other context that might bear on it too--prior damage to front, windshield replace, front of car simply dirty, etc.

The part of the scan that says the following is probably the relevant piece of information there:

U023500 - Lost Communication With
Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor
static

That refers to the sensor on the lower right corner of the front bumper (kind of spherical looking black piece where a fog light should be). First check the wiring on that sensor to make sure it hasn't been damaged or is loose at the connector.

I checked the wiring to the front sensors and I couldn't find any problems. If there was damage it wasn't reported and I can't see any. I know the ace I bought it replaced the control arms but that's all I know.

I'm sorry, but I can't edit the nonsense out of the post. As far as everything throwing fault codes, I'm just not really sure what is relevant. As Sleeper8 suggested, I will look back into the R Front sensor wiring and see if I can find any problems there, but I'm pretty lost with this one. I don't know about the windshield, but it looks to be in good shape for a desert car, so maybe it has?

The sensor is routed to the J851 module that is in the passenger footwell according to the info I have.

Edit: I read the information wrong. The sensor is routed to the J850 distance regulation control module behind the left air intake grill in the front bumper. (The J851 is for the windshield camera) It's possible you have a bad sensor or module, but it can also be wiring issue.

If you are unable to find a problem with the wiring, it may be worth it to go to a dealership that can pinpoint the problem for a diagnostic fee. Then you may be able to replace the offending part with a used one, although some level of coding or calibration may still be required at that point.

Ok so I found that I didn't quite have that plug seated all the way when I inspected it the first time. That was on me. I'm going to post my updated scan now after getting that plug seated on the ACC sensor now. I'm thinking maybe the "Image Processing C110702 - Video line for image processing Signal error" may be my primary point of concern?

If the error on the block "19 Gateway" for the "U023500 Lost Communication ..... etc." is gone, then yes, it may be related to the camera system. As I understand it, the three possible sources of camera problems are the camera itself, the cable, and the J851 video processing module. Most likely is the camera. Inside the camera there is a FPGA chip that can lose part of it's connection to the board it's on, and this is the most common failure mode. There's a pretty good thread over on Audizine related to the camera problem:

https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...era-vision-FIX

Be aware that you can't just get another camera and install it, a different camera must be coded to the car and then the ACC has to go through the calibration procedure, usually at the dealership. People who have fixed their cameras by re-balling the chip can usually just re-install it and it's good to go. For the re-balling it is recommended to find an electronics repair shop that has the proper equipment to re-ball the FPGA.

But this may be jumping a little ahead. First you want to diagnose the system to determine if it is indeed the camera.

Thanks a ton for your help. I'm definitely leaning towards the camera, I may just take it apart and try the heat gun trick to see if that sorts it out. I got notification that my VCDS finally shipped today so maybe I can get some better information from that. I have looked around the passenger seat and I don't even know where to start with ripping that out.

From newer scan, I think the salient parts are probably:

BA Assembly Mounting
System description: AEM - LEAR
Software number: 4H0907145B
Software version: 0008
Hardware number: 4H0907145
Hardware version: H07

Faults:
C115402 - Assembly mounting
Signal error
static

AND

8E Image Processing

System description: BV-SG
Software number: 4G0907107E
Software version: 0041
Hardware number: 4H0907107
Hardware version: H32

Faults:
C110702 - Video line for image processing
Signal error
static

I haven't had issues with this at all on mine (or prior Audi's), but rest of codes I think are just other systems reporting they can't do their job because of an error elsewhere ("U111300 - Function limitation due to received malfunction value. Intermittent")

I don't know where this gear is in car. Manual tells you that by
module IIRC if you can't find on web. If by passenger seat, presumably under the carpet somewhere. Again, manual should describe specific locations, but in general there can also be gear in Audis behind the carpet below glove box, as well as behind the kick panel in front of door. Lots of electronic gear for D4's is in the sandwich panel betwen back seat and trunk area, accessed by pulling out trunk panel covering it. That is where the video system is for the back up and 360 camera functions. Per a prior post of mine, in that case I luckily resolved a display issue by simply unplugging the various connectors from the module and then reseating them again.
