Default An Audi S8 in 2020

Dear AudiWorld members,

I am planning to buy a D4 Audi S8 (Pre-face lift) in the summer of 2020. Currently, they're valued at roughly around $35,000 to $45,000 depending on milage, options etc. How much further do you think this luxurious monster will depreciate by the time its 2020? Also, would it even be worth owning one in 2 years because of reliability and the cost of a routine servicing.

Thanks in advance

20%/yr drop on rule of thumb, so 2 more years = .8 x .8 = .64.

Hard to know on condition and then reliability--depends on what you buy, miles and all. You could end up by then with a lot of beaters or modded and maybe thrashed ones, or you could end up with a stereotype FL geezer car driven a few thousand miles a year. FWIW, I think D3's on average are now getting more ripe (un)reliability wise, especially the early ones. But that is more like a dozen years out.

So we're looking at around $25,000. Alrighty, thanks MP4.2+6.0.

Default The 4.2 and the 4.0 are bullet proof engines.

I had a 2012 D4 A8L for 2 years with 45k miles with NO warranty. I did brakes and tires which would not have been covered anyway and 1 update for pano sunroof motor fail in a closed position. Cost me 150 something out the door. Now I have a 2015 S8 and if the warranty for 3 years wasnt so cheap then I would have been confident buying without it, but at 1k a year for 3 years I couldn't pass it up. I ended up trading in the A8l with 69k miles by the way.
