Default Brake job 2015 S8

My dealer has told me that I will need a brake job soon. I have only had the car a year, purchased CPO. They told me $2,500 for the fronts. Seems egregious. Thinking about upgrading to drilled or slotted rotors. Any suggestions on a brake kit?

I have 25k miles on my s8 and the rotors seem fine so I just replaced pads to disc Italia ceramics and looking then so far... Just slight squeel occasionally but so much better than OEM and powerstops

I have been complaining to Audi about the squealing. Sounds terrible.

If your pads are near the end of their life they will have worn down past the chamfer which causes the squealing. My pads are very worn and they squeal like crazy. I have new pads and hope to install them this weekend. I tried to do it Monday morning but found I don't own a 9mm allen. All my sets go from 8 to 10. Couldn't find one in the local parts stores either so I ordered one.

No. I didn't measure them but they visually look good without much of lip from wear. I'm at 66k miles by the way. I'm sure I'll need new rotors next time around. I also plan on reusing the wear sensors as they haven’t been triggered yet.

Well mine were squealing since I bought it with 2500 miles so it wasn't because it was worn down...I think it's because of the aggressive pad material.

Either way I changed it the pads to powerstops ceramics which were really cheap and they started squealing within 2500 miles also then switched out to disc Italia ceramics at 25k miles and rotors are barely worn at all. So I'm still on the original rotors and now it barely squeaks at all.

Default No drilled

FYI -I put an order in for drilled and slotted rotors for an S8 through Adamsrotors.com. Adam emailed me and said our S8 rotors cannot be drilled due to intricate internal veining.

He uses OEM rotors. So I got dimmpled and slotted paired with disc italia ceramics.

I purchased 4 Zimmerman rotors and a set of 4 OEM pads with wear cables online for about $600 shipped (audionlineaparts.com, an AW sponsor). My dealer's service dept. will happily install my parts for $550 both axles. Total investment $1150 for all 4 wheels. Albeit I have a C7 A6 but I would imagine sourcing your own rotors and pads including labor for an S8 wouldn't be significantly more expensive - certainly not 4-5 times more.
