As Im salivating, waiting for the pricing to be released on the 2012 model, a few questions ran through my mind..

1. Does anyone know if there will be any changes to the body of the next model, ( i know they wouldnt be drastic) but does Audi usually refresh the cars appearance, for example change a side mirror, add a strip of chrome, etc... This will be my first Audi and I an clueless as to how Audi does things.

2. Im coming from an LS 460, and while I know my ride wont be as soft with the A8, what feels better on the car, the standard 19 inch wheels, or the optional 20's? ( I will be ordering a LWB)

3 Does anyone have any intel on when the pricing might be released, and when we might see the car in showrooms/online?

4. In reference to number 1, are there any rumors on what might be changing, besides FINALLY getting the google earth option.

Thanks for any intel, and while I realize that I should just be patient, and wait...Im a bit punch drunk for the vehicle, and Im just brimming with anticipation, because I know its close.

1-no changes to the body in 2012 that have been announced. A D4 refresh is rumored likely for the 2015 MY. There could be an engine change sometime after the 2012 MY, along with the availability of a turbo diesel. Audi Connect including Google Earth, as well as a special leather option are the key differences for 2012.

2-The 19" wheels with the 45 profile sidewalls is somewhat more cushioned vs. the 20's with the 40 profile tires. I had 19" wheels with 255x40 rubber on two prior D3s, and IMO the 255x45x19 setup is noticeably more pliant on choppy roads without giving up much on handling. While the D4 20" setup is 265x40 and a slightly wider tire than the 255x45, I don't believe that would offset the difference in segment height---although admittedly, I haven't driven the car with the 20" wheels.

3-Pricing is imminent. Probably late next week if prior history holds true.

Dealers already have D4 order guides, so you can check out all option availabilities prior to pricing being released. I've attached the A8, A8L and A8 W12 Order Guide pages.

I was advised by dealer that the Google Earth/Maps and WiFi Hotspot function were the only substantive additions to the 2012 car.

I was also told that the Havana Black color was discontinued. They did not know if another color would replace it or not.

Looks like Havanna Black is back on the Order Guide. The 2012 pricing was released to dealers Friday night---looks like the pricing went up about $700 on base cost. The Balao Brown Audi Design Interior Package will MSRP for $4K.

go to the Audi germany website. www.Audi.de then just do the conversion from euros to dollars. But I would expect to be in the 100's.
